Abstract: Parallel Cascade Control is widely used in industrial applications where the manipulated and disturbance variables simultaneously affect primary and secondary outputs. In this present work, tuning rules have been proposed for the controllers of the parallel cascade control scheme for stable, integrating and unstable processes with time delay as well as the stable and integrating processes involving Smith Predictor. PID, PI, PD and IMC controllers are used as per the requirement. Direct Synthesis approach is used to design the controllers of the parallel cascade control structure. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the working of the proposed scheme for plant transfer functions.
