Abstract: The present work involved design and fabrication of induced draft cooling tower to prevent wastage of water from Heat and Mass Transfer Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Patna. The cooling tower has been successfully designed and fabricated. The tests have been conducted on the fabricated cooling tower to evaluate its performance in terms of range, approach and efficiency. The range and efficiency have been found to increase whereas approach has been found to decrease with air flow rate for given mass flow rate of water. However, the range and efficiency have been found to decrease whereas approach has been found to increase with water flow rate for given mass flow rate of air.
