Abstract: Nanoparticles exhibit size dependent properties, which make them interesting for wide range of applications such as solar cells, LEDs, bio-labelling, photocatalysts, etc. The nanocrystalline photocatalysts are semiconductor particles in nanometres size. Though there are many catalysts available for the same with some pros and cons. Many attempts were made to overcome it. Working in the same direction, we report herein a soft template guided Bi-In-Zn-S (BIZS) nanostructures using poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(propylene glycol)-block-poly(ethylene glycol) [PEG-PPG-PEG] at various temperature with uniform size distributions. The newly synthesized BIZS nanostructures were characterized by powder XRD, IR, UV-vis, SEM, TEM, EDX and TGA. The photocatalytic activities of the BIZS nanostructures were measured by the degradation of Methylene blue (MB), Methyl orange (MO) and Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light (200W tungsten lamp and sunlight). Photocatalytic rate constant was measured and comparative study of all BIZS was made. The catalysts are found to be recyclable and generate ROS which is responsible for the degradation of dye.
